CHI MEMORIAL PORTRAITS
Keeping their spirit alive
The Process
From requesting a portrait to delivery at your door: the full process.
-
Requesting A Portrait - After sending me a message through the contact form on the contact page or via email, I will respond as quickly as I can to clarify your request and ask for a photo you wish me to use.
-
Deposit - After corresponding with you and gaining all the information needed, if we are both happy to proceed with the commission, I will then ask for a small deposit. This is to cover any small upfront costs I need to sart your portrait e.g. frame, materials etc. The deposit also acts as a contract between us so we both know we are serious about moving ahead with the commission.
-
Beginning the Commission - After I have recieved the deposit, I will then begin the portrait. I give an estimate of 2 - 3 weeks to have it all completed and delivered by.
-
During the Commission - I will update you with pictures during the process, this is to let you keep track of the progress and make sure you are happy with it before any finalisations happen. However if you wish to keep it a surprise then please let me know and I'll be sure not spoil anything for you.
-
Delivery - Before delivery I will wrap and package the portrait carefully to ensure against damage during the journey. Portraits will be sent via Royal Mail and will need a signature upon delivery.
-
Payment - Upon recieving your portrait, I will send a blank invoice for you to fill in. I will detail the time spent etc on the invoice to act as guide if you need help making your decision. Invoices have 30 days to be paid by UK law.
-
Review - Please write me a review for my work, this will help others who are considering commissioning a memorial portrait from me with their choice. It also helps share the love within this community.
Aftercare
After recieving your portrait, there are a few things you can do:
-
Practice Self Care - Recieving your portrait for the first time can stir up some emotions and old memories. Please take care of yourself and make sure you are in a place of comfort when opening the package.
-
Similarly if you are gifting it to someone else, please make sure there are in a safe space. When gifting these portraits myself to people personally in my life, I have observed some tears, postive and happy tears, but tears nonetheless so please note that the other person may have an emotional reaction.
-
If you wish to film a reaction video, you are most welcome assuring that the person is okay with it. I will be launching a social media campaign highlighting people's reactions in recieving their portait. This is to show how much these portraits mean to people and how they can have a positive effect on people's lives. If the person you are gifting the portrait to consents, then you are welcome to share the reaction video on my socials.
